Australia UNSW Engineering, Business, Science and Social Sciences Scholarships

The University may grant PhD UIPA holders an extension of a maximum of 6 months if their research is adversely affected by circumstances beyond their control and provided the candidate is making satisfactory progress. No extensions are possible for Masters by Research.

The duration of any of the scholarships will be reduced by any periods of study undertaken towards the degree prior to the commencement of the scholarship and during suspension of the scholarship.

All Research Scholarship holders will be given priority for residential accommodation in the New College Village @ UNSW. The village offers over 300 places (all air-conditioned), with 172 self-contained studios and the remaining places in 5-6 bedroom apartments all with ensuites. Information on the College including fees, services and facilities can be found on the following website: http://www.ncv.unsw.edu.au

Recipients wishing to request an extension should apply in writing to the Graduate Research School, including a supervisor's supporting statement, no later than 2 months (and no earlier than 4 months) prior to the expiry of the scholarship.

Please Note: scholarship holders who gain an extension to the scholarship who also hold additional forms of allowance (such as a Faculty living allowance) will not automatically be eligible to receive an extension of the additional allowance. Scholarship holders should check with the appropriate Faculty/School office regarding the possibility of extensions for these scholarships.

Applications are open to citizens of all overseas countries (excluding applicants with Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent resident status) who are proposing to undertake full-time study for a higher research degree at UNSW.

To be eligible for a UNSW International Research Scholarship, a student must:

    * be an international student; and
    * meet international student visa requirements as specified by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), including the requirement to purchase and maintain a standard Overseas Student Health Cover policy approved by the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Please note: Tuition Fee Remission Scholarships are only available to students who are sponsored by their home country with a living allowance/stipend of minimum value $10,000 per annum and who include the letter of offer from their home country with the application.

Students will be considered for all of the UNSW International Research Scholarships as appropriate. Only one scholarship application is required.
