Canadian International Award Tomorrow Leaders 2011-The ILOT Award recognizes international students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and community service, recognized achievement in fields of endeavour such as the performing arts, sports, debating or creative writing, or external academic competitions and examinations.
UBC attracts talented secondary and post-secondary students from around the world. We honour the achievements of our incoming international students through the International Leader of Tomorrow (ILOT) program.
Scholarship Application Deadline: 31 January 2011
The ILOT Award can be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study, or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the student achieves satisfactory academic standing in their Faculty, continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains their Canadian Study Permit (visa)

International Scholarships At Any Subject Or Level By The Chinese Government

Chinese Government Scholarship program is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars.


Criteria and Eligibility


1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.


2. Education background and age limit:


- Applicants for master’s degree program must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.


- Applicants for undergraduate program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.


- Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.


- Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.


- Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.


- Applicants for general scholar program must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and be under the age of 45, all subjects besides Chinese language are available.


 MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Programs.

Economic, Technological, Teaching And Training International Scholarships

EMIN Joint Master Programme was awarded in 2006 with the Erasmus Mundus excellence label by the European Commission, award renewed for another 5 years in 2010. This excellence label has been granted only to 126 Masters and 22 doctorates in all disciplines and Universities across Europe so far. Comillas also coordinates the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Strategies (SETS Joint Doctorate).

The purpose of this Master is to continue integrating specialists from different perspectives and nationalities, and to make them interact in an interdisciplinary program to address the main problems faced by network industries in the current context of economic crisis and environmental concern. 

Our master students will learn the relevant engineering, economics, policy and management principles in the network and infrastructure industries. These skills and knowledge will be acquired and used together in real-life problems, as this course is dedicated to training qualified professionals.


The EMIN is a two-year joint programme (120 ECTS) with two separate phases:
Training period (90 ECTS): 3 semesters of lectures at the partner universities worth 30 ECTS each.
Master Thesis and internships (30 ECTS): to be carried by students at any of the EMIN partner universities, with the collaboration of the industry partners that will support the development of professional internship of EMIN students during the last stage of their studies.

Finland Nordwel 2011 Summer Scholarships

Finland Nordwel 2011 Summer Scholarships . The Department of History with CoE NordWel in cooperation, The Institute for Future Studies and Stockholm University, Stockholm, organize an international summer school in Stockholm, 21–26 August 2011.

The aim of the summer school is to stimulate discussions across disciplines and thereby foster innovative cross-disciplinary research on the development of welfare states over time. To this purpose the Summer School bring together Ph.D. students and well-established scholars in scientific exchanges.

Welfare states can be studied from a number of theoretical and methodological approaches, with various chronological perspectives and with a focus on different empirical phenomena. 

The list of senior scholars, who have confirmed their participation, includes Sonya Michel (Woodrow Wilson Centre for International Studies, University of Maryland), Kees van Kersbergen (Aarhus Universitet), Noel Whiteside (University of Warwick), Jonas Pontusson (Princeton University, Université de Genève), Kimberly Morgan (George Washington University), Christoph Conrad (Université de Genève), Adalbert Evers (Universität Giessen), Stefan Svallfors (Umeå Universitet), Jenny Andersson (Sciences-po, CERI, Paris), Joakim Palme (Institutet för Framtidsstudier/Institute for Future Studies, Stockholm & Uppsala Universitet), Pauli Kettunen (Helsingin Yliopisto), Klaus Petersen (Syddansk Universitet Odense).

Distinguished international scholars lecture in sessions covering different themes such as the political economy of welfare states, conceptualisations of welfare, religion and welfare policies, civic society and public support for welfare states.

International Scholarship By The Irish Government in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering

International Scholarship By The Irish Government in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering- Eligibility: IRCSET’s schemes support basic research in the broad areas of Science, Engineering and Technology. Research which is deemed not to fall within this remit is not eligible for funding.
Under this scheme IRCSET offers opportunities for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree by research in a recognised third-level institution.
The IRCSET postgraduate competition does not accept applications from:
a. Those currently registered as Ph.D. candidates
b. Those currently registered for a Masters degree (by research) with the exception of:
i. Individuals in the Institute of Technology (IOT) sector in receipt of Strand 1 funding wishing to transfer to the Ph.D. register (in this case, IRCSET will support these individuals for up to a maximum of 2 years i.e. total postgraduate funded research including strand 1 funding cannot exceed 3 years)
ii. Individuals registered for a Masters degree (by research) intending to complete and submit for this award and begin a significantly new research proposal to Ph.D. level


The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) ‘EMBARK’ Initiative and the Enterprise Partnership Scheme (EPS) offer opportunities for suitably qualified individuals to pursue a postgraduate degree by research.

The University of Edinburgh Scholarships For Overseas Students

The University of Edinburgh will award 30 Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships in session 2011-2012 which like the SORSAS Awards will cover the difference between the overseas rate of fee and the home rate of fee.


This Scholarship award is designed to attract high performing overseas research students to Scottish universities. Each award covers the difference between the tuition fee for a UK/EU graduate student and that chargeable to an overseas graduate student.


All candidates who apply for a Scottish Overseas Research Students Award Scheme (SORSAS) and are unsuccessful, will automatically be considered for an Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship.


 The SORSAS scholarship awards is Subject to satisfactory academic progress and are tenable for up to three years. The awards do not cover maintenance expenses.

The awards are open to overseas students undertaking a research degree and may be held in any field of study.

The Bank of Islamic Development Awards for Technology And Science

The IDB Science and Technology Prizes scheme consists of three (3) prizes awarded on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors. Each prize will consist of a cash award of one hundred thousand (100,000) US dollars, a trophy and a certificate mentioning the name of the winner and its accomplishments.

In recognition of the crucial role that Science and Technology plays in socio-economic development, the IDB has, over the years, diversified and increased its assistance to its member countries in this area.

While the IDB continued to direct its efforts and financing to capacity-building, procurement of equipment and establishment of infrastructure in S&T applications, it has realized the necessity to develop a leading scientific elite among S&T institutions in member countries through the pursuit of excellence.


The Prizes are awarded only to institutions (not to individuals) in IDB member countries in the following categories:
Category 1:Outstanding scientific or technological contribution to the socio-economic development of a member country.

 Purpose and Objectives
1. The IDB Prizes for Science & Technology are expected to encourage merit institutions and to promote competition among S&T institutions; the prizes would further herald the commitment of the IDB to implement forward-looking policies and integrate advanced S&T applications in the overall development agenda of its member countries.

Graduate Fellowship for Applicants from any Nationality

This is a fellowship of US$1,000 for a graduate student of any nationality who needs to work in Cyprus to further his/her research on a subject of relevance to Cypriot archaeology and culture. The purpose of the fellowship is to help cover travel to and living expenses in Cyprus. Applications for 2011 are invited especially from students of Hellenistic and Roman Cyprus. While in Nicosia, Cyprus, the fellow will reside at CAARI.


While in Nicosia, Cyprus, the fellow will reside at CAARI. During his/her stay, the fellow is expected to give a presentation at CAARI on a subject related to his/her research. The fellow will periodically keep the Director of CAARI apprised of his/her research activities. The fellow will acknowledge CAARI and the Danielle Parks Memorial Fellowship in any publication that emerges from the research carried during the fellowship.


Danielle Parks, author of The Roman Coinage of Cyprus (Nicosia, 2004), directed excavations at the Amathus Gate Cemetery and for a time was assistant to the Director of CAARI. She first came to Cyprus as an Anita Cecil O'Donovan Fellow. Her death as a young scholar in 2006, deeply felt by the wide circle of her colleagues and friends, is memorialized here by a fellowship designed to open the world of Cypriot culture to young scholars.


THE ANITA CECIL O'DONOVAN FELLOWSHIP:
Founded in memory of musician, composer, and homemaker Anita Cecil O'Donovan, this fellowship offers one grant of US$1000 to a graduate student of any nationality, enrolled in a graduate program in any nation, to pursue research on a project relevant to the archaeology and/or culture of Cyprus; to be used to fund a period of research time in residence at CAARI and to help defray costs of travel. Residence at CAARI is required.
